CASTLE OF CONCRETE by Katia Raina, Young Europe, June 2019
Aaaaand here it is, my friends: the news and the big mystery; here it is, the secret revealed!
My historical YA debut, CASTLE OF CONCRETE, set in the last year of the falling-apart Soviet Union, is the story of a timid Jewish girl reuniting with her once-dissident mother and falling in love with a boy who may be an anti-Semite. It is coming out on June 11, 2019 from Young Europe, the imprint of New Europe Books, a literary press.
Friends know what a winding journey it has been, with many (cough, many) years of hopes and near-misses. That is why this time I really wanted to be sure of my news before I shared it with the world. And now I am most definitely sure, because Advanced Review Copies are already on their way!!! (Bring in all the exclamation marks!)
Speaking of advanced review copies — to celebrate this announcement, I will be adding one early Castle of Concrete copy to the pile of prizes for this giveaway. Stay tuned for that announcement! Meanwhile, you have one day left to enter the contest. So go ahead, tweet it, Facebook it, comment, subscribe and share away.
There will be a lot more here on Magic Mirror about the origins of this story, the writing process, answers to your questions — feel free to leave your questions in the comments to this post, by the way. There will also be more interviews and more giveaways of Castle of Concrete ARCs, so if you don’t win this time, hang in there.
In the meantime, check out my cover reveal interview on the blog of a fellow Vermont College of Fine Arts author and friend Lyn Miller-Lachmann.
Thank you for being here to help welcome Castle of Concrete into the world. I am so happy I get to share this story with you so soon!
